Tim Atherton - Yellowknife, Northwest Territories Tim Atherton has been taking photographs since he was 12 although he obtained his technical training in the British Army. After working and photographing in Britain for a number of years, including N. Ireland as well as a year documenting unemployment in post-industrial NE England as part of a Theology degree. He moved to Northern Canada in 1989. Living first in Iqaluit, then Tuktoyaktuk, he currently lives in Yellowknife.
Tim's work appears in Up Here Magazine as well as Maclean's Magazine, The Globe & Mail, NY Times, L.A. Times, Douglas & McIntyre Publishers, Leica Fotografie International and a number of other publications. Other clients include the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, NorthWestTel, Diavik Diamond Mines, BHP Diamonds, the Government of the Northwest Territories and various architectural offices.
In 1997 Tim Atherton received a silver award at the CAPIC (Canadian Association of Photographers and Illustrators in Communications) annual Awards for Excellence. He has also received two NWT Arts Council Grants to pursue photographic projects.
