Cynthia Carris - New York, New York
For the past ten years as an American journalist and photographer, Cynthia Carris Alonso has documented Cuba and its unique culture. Her photographs have been published in international magazines and newspapers; adorned record covers, and have exhibited around the U.S., Canada and Brazil. She has photographed Cuba’s most famous musicians, news events and daily life of the people. Since 1986, in addition to being a photographer, Cynthia Carris Alonso has been a Photo Researcher and Editor for several magazines such as Vanity Fair, Newsweek and Business Week. Carris helped launch Newsweek's Interactive CD-Roms in 1992 and continued photo editing Newsweek’s daily and weekly stories online until 2000 when she became the photo editor of Business Week’s news section. Alonso now freelances as both a photo editor and photographer for several publications. She lives in New York City with her husband and daughter.
