Jason Payne - Vancouver, British Columbia
After a year-and-a-half working as a newspaper reporter at the Revelstoke Times-Review in the tiny mountain community of Revelstoke, BC, Jason decided he enjoyed telling stories with pictures and words, not words with pictures. Soon afterwards he began working in Kamloops, BC as a full-time photographer at Kamloops This Week. Four years later, and after working his way up to chief photographer, he handed-in his keys and started working for himself. Freelance clients include The Province, Vancouver Sun, The Globe & Mail, National Post, Victoria Times Colonist, Kamloops Daily News, The Canadian Press, Adbusters Magazine, Next Magazine (Hong Kong) and Cycle Canada Magazine among others. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, a diploma in Photojournalism and completed an internship at the Calgary Herald prior to working full-time. Travels include the Cote D'Ivoire, Sudan, Uganda, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, France as well as extensive travel throughout North America. Jason is an award-winning photographer and writer currently based in North Vancouver, BC.
